Building The Crew Team – Crew Breifings – Tangible Pointers for New Captains

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about the importance for the new captain to allocate time and energy into developing the crew team and to create a work environment that is open and allows for expression of views and opinions.

I received a number of responses to my article commenting about the challenges of developing the team asking further questions and advice about some tangible applications and practices that a new captain could implement. This made me realize that although the proposals about crew team development are in alignment with the contemporary approach to good HR practices, giving more tangible examples or possible methods of application might help readers better understand the concepts I put forward.
Each situation has its specific circumstances as a result of the individuals and situations involved, however there are features which are applicable in one way or another in almost all situations.
